Window light and bicycles

Some places are better in the off-season, and a mountain hut above the treeline is one of them. I tried a few long exposures, but the wind had other ideas. The handheld shots turned out better anyway.

I underexposed most of the frames on purpose, to keep the mood soft rather than bright. An elderly couple asked me to take their picture. I used their phone, then made one frame of them on mine.

The light was soft, and window light kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph. The café near a mountain hut above the treeline still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.

Working with a cheap zoom from a flea market forces you to slow down. You think twice before pressing the shutter, and that changes the pictures. There is something calming about returning to the same spot and noticing small changes since the last visit.

I will probably come back in a few weeks, when the season turns.
