Three days at the old harbour

Some places are better in the off-season, and the old harbour is one of them. Walking back, I found a side street I had never noticed before, lined with tiny workshops.

The light was still, and morning markets kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph. An elderly couple asked me to take their picture. I used their phone, then made one frame of them on mine.

A light drizzle started around ten. I sheltered under a bus stop roof and photographed people hurrying past. Shooting with an old film camera meant I had to get closer than I am used to, which was uncomfortable at first.

I kept a paper notebook this time, writing down the time and the light for every roll. The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it.

On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip. The café near the old harbour still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.

Nothing dramatic happened, and that was exactly the point.
