Learning to see old doors
I went to a fishing village on the coast with a pocket camera and no particular plan. The café near a fishing village on the coast still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.
I sat on a bench for almost an hour, just watching footpaths change as the clouds moved. Working with a pocket camera forces you to slow down. You think twice before pressing the shutter, and that changes the pictures.
Halfway through I switched to black and white, which suited the strangely warm weather much better. The light was strangely warm, and old doors kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph.
If you go, bring warm socks and a thermos — the café closes early.
