What snow tracks taught me
A friend suggested a village bakery months ago, and this week I finally went. Shooting with a pocket camera meant I had to get closer than I am used to, which was uncomfortable at first.
The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it. Most of the morning went into watching snow tracks; I took fewer frames than usual, but each one felt deliberate.
On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip. I underexposed most of the frames on purpose, to keep the mood soft rather than bright.
Working with a pocket camera forces you to slow down. You think twice before pressing the shutter, and that changes the pictures. The café near a village bakery still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.
Next time I want to try the same walk at sunset.
