Slow afternoon at the observatory hill
The forecast promised rain, so naturally I headed to the observatory hill. I kept a paper notebook this time, writing down the time and the light for every roll.
A light drizzle started around ten. I sheltered under a bus stop roof and photographed people hurrying past. The café near the observatory hill still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.
Locals barely noticed me. A man feeding gulls told me the place looks completely different in spring. By noon the crowds arrived, so I walked further along the path, where snow tracks were still undisturbed.
Walking back, I found a side street I had never noticed before, lined with tiny workshops. The light was strangely warm, and snow tracks kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph.
I underexposed most of the frames on purpose, to keep the mood strangely warm rather than bright. On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip.
I will probably come back in a few weeks, when the season turns.
