A short walk: an abandoned railway line
The alarm went off before dawn, and by six I was already at an abandoned railway line. The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it.
The light was still, and long shadows kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph. On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip.
By noon the crowds arrived, so I walked further along the path, where long shadows were still undisturbed. I kept a paper notebook this time, writing down the time and the light for every roll.
An elderly couple asked me to take their picture. I used their phone, then made one frame of them on mine. I sat on a bench for almost an hour, just watching early light change as the clouds moved.
Next time I want to try the same walk at sunset.
