Learning to see bicycles
It has been a while since my last trip to the old harbour. The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it.
By noon the crowds arrived, so I walked further along the path, where bicycles were still undisturbed. The café near the old harbour still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.
Halfway through I switched to black and white, which suited the soft weather much better. A light drizzle started around ten. I sheltered under a bus stop roof and photographed people hurrying past.
Locals barely noticed me. A man feeding gulls told me the place looks completely different in spring. On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip.
I tried a few long exposures, but the wind had other ideas. The handheld shots turned out better anyway. An elderly couple asked me to take their picture. I used their phone, then made one frame of them on mine.
The full set of photos will go into the archive once the film comes back from the lab.
