Back to an abandoned railway line

The alarm went off before dawn, and by six I was already at an abandoned railway line. Most of the morning went into watching rain on glass; I took fewer frames than usual, but each one felt deliberate.

Working with an old film camera forces you to slow down. You think twice before pressing the shutter, and that changes the pictures. There is something calming about returning to the same spot and noticing small changes since the last visit.

On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip. Shooting with an old film camera meant I had to get closer than I am used to, which was uncomfortable at first.

The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it. I sat on a bench for almost an hour, just watching long shadows change as the clouds moved.

Next time I want to try the same walk at sunset.
