A short walk: a quiet monastery
Some places are better in the off-season, and a quiet monastery is one of them. On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip.
A light drizzle started around ten. I sheltered under a bus stop roof and photographed people hurrying past. I sat on a bench for almost an hour, just watching window light change as the clouds moved.
Walking back, I found a side street I had never noticed before, lined with tiny workshops. The light was grey but generous, and bicycles kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph.
Halfway through I switched to black and white, which suited the grey but generous weather much better. There is something calming about returning to the same spot and noticing small changes since the last visit.
I will probably come back in a few weeks, when the season turns.
