A morning at a quiet monastery
It has been a while since my last trip to a quiet monastery. The light was strangely warm, and snow tracks kept pulling my attention away from anything I had planned to photograph.
The café near a quiet monastery still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research. I tried a few long exposures, but the wind had other ideas. The handheld shots turned out better anyway.
There is something calming about returning to the same spot and noticing small changes since the last visit. On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip.
Most of the morning went into watching snow tracks; I took fewer frames than usual, but each one felt deliberate. I sat on a bench for almost an hour, just watching morning markets change as the clouds moved.
The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it. Halfway through I switched to black and white, which suited the strangely warm weather much better.
Next time I want to try the same walk at sunset.
