Slow afternoon at a lighthouse at the end of the spit

The forecast promised rain, so naturally I headed to a lighthouse at the end of the spit. By noon the crowds arrived, so I walked further along the path, where stone walls were still undisturbed.

I tried a few long exposures, but the wind had other ideas. The handheld shots turned out better anyway. Shooting with a cheap zoom from a flea market meant I had to get closer than I am used to, which was uncomfortable at first.

Most of the morning went into watching stone walls; I took fewer frames than usual, but each one felt deliberate. I underexposed most of the frames on purpose, to keep the mood windy rather than bright.

There is something calming about returning to the same spot and noticing small changes since the last visit. On the way home the train was nearly empty, so I reviewed the day's notes and planned the next trip.

An elderly couple asked me to take their picture. I used their phone, then made one frame of them on mine. A light drizzle started around ten. I sheltered under a bus stop roof and photographed people hurrying past.

It was a good reminder that interesting pictures rarely require going far.
