Learning to see birds over water

A friend suggested a birch grove after rain months ago, and this week I finally went. The café near a birch grove after rain still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.

The path was muddy and longer than the map suggested, but the view at the end made up for it. Most of the morning went into watching birds over water; I took fewer frames than usual, but each one felt deliberate.

An elderly couple asked me to take their picture. I used their phone, then made one frame of them on mine. Halfway through I switched to black and white, which suited the unhurried weather much better.

Nothing dramatic happened, and that was exactly the point.
