Bicycles at a mountain hut above the treeline

It has been a while since my last trip to a mountain hut above the treeline. The café near a mountain hut above the treeline still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research.

Shooting with a 50mm lens meant I had to get closer than I am used to, which was uncomfortable at first. A light drizzle started around ten. I sheltered under a bus stop roof and photographed people hurrying past.

I underexposed most of the frames on purpose, to keep the mood grey but generous rather than bright. I sat on a bench for almost an hour, just watching old doors change as the clouds moved.

Walking back, I found a side street I had never noticed before, lined with tiny workshops. Halfway through I switched to black and white, which suited the grey but generous weather much better.

I will probably come back in a few weeks, when the season turns.
