A morning at a quiet monastery

A friend suggested a quiet monastery months ago, and this week I finally went. Most of the morning went into watching night trains; I took fewer frames than usual, but each one felt deliberate.

There is something calming about returning to the same spot and noticing small changes since the last visit. I tried a few long exposures, but the wind had other ideas. The handheld shots turned out better anyway.

The café near a quiet monastery still serves the same cinnamon buns; I had two and pretended it was research. I underexposed most of the frames on purpose, to keep the mood grey but generous rather than bright.

It was a good reminder that interesting pictures rarely require going far.
